FxPro Launches Weekend Access Across Five Key Markets
FxPro has rolled out weekend trading for a basket of five instruments: gold, silver, WTI crude oil, natural gas, and the Nasdaq index. The new offering gives retail clients the ability to trade these markets during Saturday and Sunday, a period when the underlying exchanges and futures markets are typically shut down.
The products are accessible through FxPro's Standard MT5 account and can be traded via the MetaTrader 5 platform as well as the broker's proprietary mobile app. FxPro noted that the expansion covers three distinct asset categories — precious metals, energy contracts, and equity-index exposure — broadening the scope of weekend accessibility beyond a single commodity.
The broker explained that the instruments are designed to let traders react to events that unfold outside normal trading hours, such as geopolitical shocks, political announcements, and shifts in market sentiment. Clients can also use the weekend window to pre-position for the following Monday's session. FxPro confirmed there is no cap on the number of weekend positions a client may open.
A Growing Trend Among Retail Brokers
FxPro's move is part of a broader industry shift toward extending trading hours into the weekend. Over the past several months, at least three other retail brokers have introduced similar capabilities.
Vantage launched a 24/7 gold CFD product in July, CMC Markets added weekend gold trading in April, and XM rolled out seven-day gold CFD trading in August. While these competitors focused primarily on a single metal, FxPro's expansion covers a wider set of instruments across metals, energy, and indices, giving its client base more flexibility in how they manage exposure over the weekend.
Mechanics, Position Transfer, and Jurisdictional Caveats
A key operational detail for traders is how positions carry over into the weekday session. FxPro stated that when the underlying markets reopen on Monday, any positions held from the weekend are automatically transferred to the corresponding standard weekday instrument. This means a gold position opened on Saturday, for example, will seamlessly continue into regular Monday trading without the client needing to close and reopen it.
However, the broker cautioned that weekend trading is not universally available. Access is restricted to certain jurisdictions, and clients in other regions will not see the feature in their accounts. Traders should verify their eligibility before planning a weekend strategy around these instruments.
Rising Client Activity Amid a Volatile 2025
The weekend-trading expansion arrives at a time when FxPro's UK entity is reporting a notable uptick in client engagement. According to a Companies House filing, the unit saw activity climb across multiple asset classes during 2025, translating into higher transaction volumes and increased revenue.
FxPro attributed the surge to elevated market volatility driven by geopolitical developments, specifically citing the ongoing Gaza-Israel conflict and broader instability across the Middle East. The filing also revealed that the UK unit's net notional exposure to both commodities and currencies grew over the course of the year, suggesting that clients are increasingly turning to these asset classes as a hedge or trading opportunity in an uncertain macro environment.
For retail traders evaluating the new offering, the practical takeaway is clear: weekend gaps in the calendar are no longer a hard barrier to adjusting positions in major metals, energy, and equity-index markets. At the same time, the jurisdictional restrictions and the automatic position-transfer mechanism mean traders should read FxPro's terms carefully to understand exactly how their weekend exposure will be handled when the regular session resumes.
