A Product-Focused Executive Takes the Helm
MEX Exchange, the institutional multi-dealer electronic communications network (ECN) for foreign exchange and metals, has announced a significant leadership transition. Brian Andreyko, who has served as the firm's Chief Product Officer since joining earlier this year, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. David Ogg, the seasoned industry veteran and founder of HotspotFX, will step down from the CEO position after more than three years steering the MEX Exchange project and instead take on the Vice Chairman seat.
The move keeps Ogg embedded in the company's long-range strategic direction while handing day-to-day operational command to Andreyko. MEX Exchange stated that the appointments are designed to underpin the ongoing build-out of its institutional electronic trading platform, including its ECN infrastructure, technical services, and execution services divisions.
The venue, which offers access through a proprietary interface or a FIX API, caters to banks, brokers, hedge funds, asset managers, family offices, and other institutional participants. In his remarks accompanying the announcement, Andreyko framed the appointment as a chance to deliver what he called a "differentiated proposition" to institutional traders, with an emphasis on speed, operational efficiency, and a superior execution experience for both emerging-market and global counterparties.
Andreyko's Three Decades in Institutional Markets
Andreyko brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in financial technology and institutional trading to the CEO chair. According to MEX Exchange, his career résumé includes serving as Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff at Currenex, holding the position of Executive Vice President and Head of EBS at ICAP, leading MakoFX/Liquidity Pool as CEO, and acting as Chief Business Officer at TradAir. Prior to joining MEX Exchange as CPO in 2026, he spent nearly six years at Edgewater Markets.
Placing a product and electronic-trading specialist at the top of the venue is a deliberate signal of where the company sees its competitive edge. With the ECN, technical services, and execution-services businesses all in a growth phase, MEX Exchange is positioning itself to compete on the quality and speed of its trading infrastructure rather than solely on liquidity aggregation.
Ogg's Legacy and Continued Strategic Involvement
Ogg's departure from the CEO role does not mark his exit from the firm. As Vice Chairman, he will remain a presence in governance and long-term strategy. His name is deeply associated with the institutional FX electronic trading landscape: he founded HotspotFX in 1999, a platform the company describes as the first institutional FX ECN. His broader career also spans LavaFX, his own firm Ogg Trading, and senior positions at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers, HSBC, and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson.
The path to MEX Exchange was not entirely linear for Ogg. Before joining the MultiBank Group, he had publicly described himself on LinkedIn as "retiring… sort of," while noting an openness to consulting and advisory engagements in FX and crypto trading. That tentative retirement was followed by a full commitment to the MEX Exchange project, which MultiBank later formalized with the opening of a U.S. office in February 2023. The platform was developed under the direction of Founder and Chairman Naser Taher alongside Ogg as CEO.
Expansion Momentum Across the MultiBank Ecosystem
The leadership reshuffle arrives at a time of broader growth for the MultiBank group. In 2024, Finance Magnates reported that MEX Digital FZE had obtained a licence from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, extending the group's regulatory footprint into the digital-asset space. The following year, the group unveiled MEX Orient, a new venture with the stated goal of entering 14 countries within a three-year window.
MEX Exchange framed the latest management appointments as part of a wider investment in leadership depth and institutional capabilities. Notably, the company did not announce any changes to its existing product line, nor did it reveal new volume targets alongside the personnel update. For brokers and institutional traders evaluating the venue, the shift suggests a stronger emphasis on product engineering and execution quality as the platform scales across new geographies and asset classes.
